6 water tanks of which 5 equipped with a rope pump. 1 at Nicane primary school, 1 at Ofensiva pre-school, 1 at the Muerote primary school, 1 at 3 de Feveiro pre-school, 1 at Pajo primary school, 1 at Muelege primary school (no rope-pump was mounted on the water tank of this last school, due to lack of participation of the villagers). Additionally we were working on 1 more tank in Nahipa but gave it up due to lack of participation of the villagers.
21 VIP latrines – 5 at the primary school in Muerote, 2 at the 3 de Fevereiro pre-school, 2 at Nicane pre-school, 4 at the primary school in Nicane, 6 at the primary school in Pajo and 2 at the Offensiva pre-school.
42 tippy taps – 2 in the primary school Muerote, 2 in the pre-school 3 de Feveiro, 2 in the pre-school Nicane, 2 in the Ramiane hospital, 4 in the Ramiane primary school, and the other tippy taps have been placed at the other sites where latrines are present.
Altogether 40 filters and 80 buckets were distributed at pre-schools.
1.798 children and their parents were reached through 36 workshops/training courses, which included 3 seminars at the ADPP training center seminars with the pre-school animators, 18 decentralized meetings at the schools with teachers and villagers, and 15 other meetings focusing on WASH issues in schools. As a result teachers, animators and quite a few active parents involved in the schools have educated the children and also the children’s parents regarding WASH issues intensively.
12 local masons have been trained who did all the building activities under supervision of ADPP staff.
Additionally to the original planning 150 trees were distributed for planting at 2 schools (mangos, cashews, papayas, acacias) and 1 school (Pajo) was assisted to set up irrigated vegetable production with water from the constructed water tank.
Furthermore, ADPP continues to cooperate with 62 preschools, training and guiding the voluntary animators at these schools, also regarding WASH issues, despite the fact that no funding is available any more for this work.
